The island is nestled in the southern reaches of the Mediterranean Sea, below Turkey, and it´s the third largest Mediterranean island, following Sicily and Sardinia. Geographically, Cyprus is part of Asia, but both culturally and politically it belongs to Europe, and the country is a member of the European Union. The capital, Nocosia, is the largest urban area on the island. It offers various attractions, such as the city walls that surround the area, built during the Venetian rule. And then there's the 'Green Line,' which divides the city into two parts, between the Greek and Turkish sides.
